today i learned that "ranlib" (the native toolchain component) means "randomize library". ... wait, why? it turns out "randomize" here means "make random" which itself is shorthand for "make random access", i.e. build a symbol index.

Навскидку: можно взять идею из quicksort; если есть разбиение на непересекающиеся фрагменты, то их не нужно сливать.

this also applies to string encodings, which you can see e.g. in how Rust adopted WTF-8 to be able to reliably interface to WinAPI

Sounds good. Will this be GPL compliant? E.g., will user be able to swap the kernel source code?

You don't statically have to try to prevent every type of error in Rust. Really! If you're tying yourself in knots with the type system, it's OK to just accept some failure modes. The type system is a tool that's there to help you if you want it, not a way of life.

Also, the very idea of protecting conductors at downstream rather than at upstream is quite strange (just like client-side validation instead of server-side validation).
