For some reason this has gotten under my skin today. There is a private club in America that only the rich can join where as a member you are given special access to the president, pictures with the president, the president takes your advice & counsel & HE GETS PAID FOR IT.

Call me old school, but this seems to me so outrageously wrong that I can't even think about Russia right now. And there's a hotel in DC like that. And there are properties worldwide where you can pay to have access to the president's closest advisors (family)...

...and on top of that, the countries that have those properties in them and their leaders tend to get treated much better by the current administration than other countries even though they are often rule by autocrats and others with interests antithetical to the U.S.

This is not a drill. The White House is raffling off the prestige and power of the presidency to the highest bidder, the Trump's are pocketing the profits and as far as I can tell, very little is being done about it. It seldom even makes the news in the same way as other scandals.

What is going on here? Have we totally lost our bearings as a nation? For years U.S. politics have been corrupted by money. Citizen's United and the NRA demonstrate this and the cost is egregious. The president's cabinet reveals this with their each and every corporate give-away.

But this is at another level. This is pay-for-play, tinpot dictator stuff. And it is all explicitly unconstitutional. And the legislators who have sworn an oath to the Constitution are abrogating their responsibilities by ignoring it. This is not Russiagate. But it's just as bad.

An important thread. Kleptocracy is not just about a president using his office to enrich himself. It is about directly selling access to the President of the United States & closest advisors for money. The Framers would be horrified that this goes on w/o congressional hearings!
