2020 is the last chance to show that there are costs for gross abuse of presidential power and relentless obstruction. And that’s merely one set of existential, or at least ginormous, stakes.

The Courts will be even more dominated by hyper-partisan hacks, and SCOTUS could well go from 5-4 to 7-3 or even 8-2. People who think court packing is an easy fix are kidding themselves.

Climate change is another. We can’t afford another four years of not just inaction, but actively encouraging carbon emissions. Not only does that make the crisis worse, but it increases the risk of ultimately being driven into “ecoauthoritarian” solutions.

The arms control regime is falling apart. The global human rights regime is in grave danger. It’s not clear the we can reverse either trajectory, but Trump is accelerating both processes.

The concrete costs of this administration to the poor and vulnerable in the US are abundantly clear: from food stamps, to Medicaid, to the sabotaging of loan forgiveness by the DoE, to civil rights (non)enforcement. These will get worse, possibly much worse.

The idea that anyone who is politically active would support Biden but not Warren, Bernie but not Klobuchar, or Buttigieg but not Yang in the general election.... is risable. There is no defensible “theory of politics” that justifies doing so.

Every argument from 2016 that Trump wouldn’t be that bad is in tatters (and yet some people still take these grifters & fools seriously).

He has not been reigned in, he has not struck a blow against neoliberalism, his policies have increased the number of civilians killed in US military operations, gay rights *are* in danger, his immigration policies *are* much worse than Obama’s...

If the Dem primary gives us Biden or Klobuchar, perhaps some of us would like to see the whole thing burn to the ground instead.

The best way to vote The Cult out of the WH is . He brings along the most voters in the general. It is not defensible to see these numbers and say, we won't vote for Bernie in the primaries even though he has the best chance of winning the general. Right?

It's really important to pay attention to who is bankrolling campaigns, voting records of candidates, and what their stated positions are in regard to top priority issues. And ALL candidates & their surrogates need to get off their high horses, commit to support eventual nominee.

Also, voters need to stop getting sucked in to the dirty tricks media & candidates play of trying to define candidates by their supporters' behavior. They keep it up, and we're sure to be stuck w/Trump for 4 more years. Judge candidates, not their supporters to decide your vote.
