Mark Braverman just said that Jews in America are descendants of an Eighth Century tribe in Europe that converted. He was quoting Shlomo Sand.

The Khazar libel is a widespread conspiracy theory among the anti-Israel community. it was basically invented by Arthur Keostler in 1976. There was never historical evidence for it and it has been thoroughly disproven by genetic studies of Ashkenzi Jews.

the neat thing abt that accusation is that given how hard (many centuries) it took for xn conversion of tribes to have any affect at all, the conversion of the Khazars into Ashkenazic bookworms is nothing short of mind-boggling.

I just can't figure out how so many of us supposed Khazars are Kohanim and Leviim.

Why is it that when it comes to Israel we are not descended from the Jews of the Bible, but when it comes to millennia of hating us for a crucifixion that occurred some 800 yrs before our supposed conversion, we are?

"an event as unprecedented as an entire kingdom’s conversion to Judaism merited no mention in contemporaneous sources. 'The silence of so many sources about the Khazars’ Judaism is very suspicious,” [historian Shaul] Stampfer said."

There is genetic evidence that Ashkenazi Jews are overwhelmingly related to all other Jews in the world and unrelated to the Turkic or Altaic Khazars and Magyars. A fact that Sand, an amateur historian on these matters, was not aware of when he wrote his book.
