I think it's pretty rare but I'm not an expert. My understanding is that most locales that have vertical writing modes tend to use left-to-right in digital contexts and mostly reserve vertical for signage or traditional book texts.

Yeah margin/padding/things that accept shorthand for all sides being the same we support a single value. Also added marginX/marginY etc.

We ended up excluding the shorthand versions for the most part and just keeping the individual property names. IMO that’s easier to read and easier for TS. Autocomplete makes it less typing anyway.

Messed around and shimmed the React Hooks API in Svelte. Got React Aria working! 😲

Yep! I've shimmed the React API with a tiny implementation of just the hooks I need, so the runtime is not included at all.

Yep the implementation is super small. 😀

To take advantage of the large number of hooks that are available without rewriting them in every framework. React Aria handles a lot of complexity and I wouldn’t want to rewrite it N times.

Here's the repo: Basically it wraps the result in a svelte store so it can be observed.

Repo is here. Very WIP so be warned. Feel free to help implement the remaining hooks though. 😉

Well... we got gypped. They count time before acquisitions, but not for sabbatical. So, next year. Wouldn't have been a great year for a sabbatical anyway. 😉

Building great UIs that work well across a wide variety of devices and interaction models is so much harder than it looks. UI dev work is often underestimated. If I wrote a series of articles covering some details that went into React Spectrum & React Aria, would you read them?

I’ve never really understood why people care about npm install times so much. Like, you only do it once. Seems like waiting 20-30s is really not that bad. Definitely not worth switching tools over. 🤷🏻‍♂️

We haven’t finished the typography components yet. Eventually we’ll have something for that though.

Totally. Should have said "giving all of our work away for free".
