“It’s not out of cockiness. I’ve won five world titles and if I say, 'I’m the best gymnast there is,' (the reaction is) 'Oh, she’s cocky. Look at her now.’ No, the facts are literally on the paper. I think it’s important to teach (young girls) that.”

What happens when people cannot be themselves at work? loss of productivity 6 weeks a year, loss of engagement, loss of creativity, loss of vulnerability, and loss of collaboration. Great talk on need for inclusive environment at work.

Another great talk on age bias. And the assumptions and myths we have about older workers that prevent us from valuing the experience and value they bring along with mentoring newer employees.

Just came across a set of docs that include the phrase "dead simple". In general these are great docs! But language matters. Inevitably, someone is going to struggle through implementing a project. They're going to feel worse for struggling with something described as "simple".

With the first day of falling on Columbus Day, it would be wonderful to see the conference start with an Acknowledgement of Country, recognising the native peoples who lived in Raleigh before the colonists arrived.

Thanks, Keziyah. I’m sure I can talk for 10 minutes about my own experience. I don’t know why I’m anxious.
