If it weren’t for the universal nature of social security, it would already be gone. Implementation is dependent on political will. The issue with the political will is the disinformation campaigns being waged against M4A. A president would need to counteract with bully pulpit.

It’s not a less heavy lift to go all in and you only have one lift instead of two. And if you don’t go all in, the first lift is a band-aid that won’t have the protection of full universality, which means being in constant jeopardy when there are tiny power shifts.

Question: why go w/ a more complex multi-phase (and more tenuously achieved) rollout than use a plan that exists and is modeled on systems that already exist & work elsewhere. Being different for the sake of being different? Or being pressured to leaving wiggle room for sabotage?

Skipped “secondary” stuff to afford the critical stuff this summer. Lost job and insurance. Kicked off of COBRA retroactively after a couple months after exchange deadline passed. Got crappy stop-gap insurance until new employer insurance came through. Sheesh. Broke & stressed.
