Later in the evening, Dr V Eswaran Dy.Dir, SPRE. PROJDIR, S-200 provided the answer to a longstanding question about the S-200. He said the reason for sticking to maraging steel still was uncertainity of availability of T700/T1000 class composites, specifically domestic sources.

Additional missions for the maritime surveillance platform - airborne surveillance using SLAR, UV, IR and MWR sensors to gather surface oil pollution data. Given this is one of the missions of the maritime surveillance platform, the operator will be shore based.
