"When the help came I felt so happy." Ilda's house was destroyed by . She had no money to rebuild it, but thanks to a shelter kit provided by , using donations from the DEC, she has been able to rebuild her home. 😊

This is Ilda enjoying her new home that she rebuilt with a shelter kit from , using DEC funds, after it was crushed by Cyclone Idai. “Even with a little money I wouldn’t have had enough to rebuild my house. So when the help came I felt a big relief.”

When the 2018 tsunami struck Indonesia it hit Hijrah's salt farm, threatening her family's survival. But thanks to DEC funds Hijrah is one of 13,000 people who received help to restart their livelihoods. "Because of this help, the economy improves faster.”

Hi Eloise, the DEC won't be launching an appeal as the Australian government hasn't requested international funding, but the Australian arm of the Red Cross (one our member charities) is raising money to support those affected, more info here:

Hi Charlee, the DEC won't be launching an appeal as the Australian government hasn't requested international funding but the Australian arm of the Red Cross (one our member charities) is raising money to support those affected, more info here:

... However this disaster doesn't meet the criteria for one of our UK appeals as there are sufficient domestic resources and infrastructure in place to deal with the bush fires and help those affected... 2/3

The Australian branches of four DEC members have launched fundraising appeals if you wish to donate: Red Cross, Save the Children, Islamic Relief and World Vision. 2/2
