One way to see this: The top candidate in the “moderate” wing barely topped the “radical” candidate. So close!
Another way to see this: Among the top five finishers, the “moderate” wing crushed the “radical” wing, 54.3% to 44.1%.
If the moderates combine forces early, its over. twitter.com/maurabarrettnb…

Since yesterday's acquittal, 25th Amendment talk has perked up on Twitter. As such, it's time to retweet this thread.
It explains how—like it or not—25A is limited by its narrow design. The failure to use 25A now is a reflection of 25A's purposes, not a perversion of them. twitter.com/ProfBrianKalt/…

OTD 1911: Birth of Ronald Reagan:
- Only POTUS born, raised, and educated in Illinois
- Only president between Eisenhower and Clinton to serve two full terms
- As POTUS, read the President’s Daily Brief more carefully than commonly thought

It’s even more specific than that. It’s wasn’t that Clinton wasn’t interested in intelligence; he just didn’t feel the need to interact directly with his DCI. (Woolsey told me he met with Clinton alone only once—before his nomination—and afterward saw him two-on-two only twice.)

OTD 1993: Jim Woolsey sworn in as Director of Central Intelligence.
He told me he couldn’t recall a single time during his two year tenure when President Clinton, the secretary of state, or the secretary of defense called him to talk about an item in the President’s Daily Brief. pic.twitter.com/K4CwJJHwvm
