I could imagine the movie being less if they faced off in person. The fight becomes physical at that point, instead of a battle of wits. The battle of wits is far more satisfying than which character can punch harder.

I really like it, obviously, but there's definitely some clunkiness to the storytelling stemming from the script's tortured history. I love its ambition, visuals, and sense of wonder.
