The MacBook headphone jack has always been on the left side. Why? Makes sense, since wired headphones traditionally have their wires on the left side. The new MacBook Pro moved the headphone jack to the right side. Anyone know why? 🤔 //

Why does the headphone jack still exist on the MacBook since Apple removed it from the iPhone? I think they should remove it from the Mac’s and iPads altogether.

It jibes with Apple’s explanation that they removed it from the iPhone for space reasons.

Because Apple has become the land of arbitrary design decisions?

Maybe there are electronic components on the left side which prevents its inclusion there. Sometimes hardware design is also a challenge.

I have the 2016 Macbook and the headphone jack is also on the right side.. but my sennheiser mm 450-x also has the wire on the right side.. so it was an improvement for me 🤷🏽‍♂️

There's a theory that lots of people at Apple are left handed (came out of iPhone 4 Antennagate that didn't affect lefties so much). And they like to keep the left side clear of cables so they can use a mouse.

That makes no sense. Even if a disproportionate number of Apple employees are left-handed, surely they’re not even *close* to a majority. And why would the same people deciding where the headphone jack on MacBooks goes also design the antenna for iPhone 4?
