But David, science is political. Attempting to "just let them do science" denies that all decisions, everywhere, are inextricably tied to the climate and ecological emergency which we learned from... science. IMHO having scientists endorse your climate plan is pretty important.

I signed this because I’m 💯% behind the Green New Deal to get us to 💯% clean energy in a way that’s good for 💯% of the people

The whole world could be powered with solar panels in that little box. And the sun ain’t going anywhere any time soon

Programs like the Green New Deal would create a massive mobilization to switch over to 100% clean energy as soon as possible. There are cheap, effective ways to make electricity without coal that also make the air much cleaner

Yep but the plants just took the CO2 out of the air by photosynthesis

There are electric options for all of these. One side effect: much cleaner air from way less smoke

The CO2 from our breathing doesn’t add to the total amount in the atmosphere, because it recently came from plants. It’s the billions of tons of fossil fuels we burn each year that add up in the air

There are plenty of substitutes for fossil fuels readily available. People don’t increase atmospheric CO2. And most of the population growth is happening in places with very low emissions

I’m a climate scientist and I just joined . We need to stop burning fossil fuels as quickly as possible, and take care of the people that are most affected along the way

New Research Highlight! Under exclusive CO2 forcing, climate models predicted twice as much Hadley cell expansion in the Southern Hemisphere as in the Northern Hemisphere. Read more by at

Also important to remember, though, that these are concentration pathways when used in CMIP. So if, for instance, there are many more wildfires in coming decades, that could effectively push us towards higher emissions scenarios

Makes me so happy to see Abby Swann get this well-deserved recognition! Not only is her science driving new understandings in plant-climate interactions, she also uplifts so many of us by shifting the culture in STEM to be more caring, vibrant and diverse.

Hopefully, one day, my scientific writings will be quoted in news articles instead of my tweets. But I'm still very excited about this in the meantime!
