We've had a challenge lining up sponsors to make a Southern Hemisphere event work. In the meantime, if travel funding is an issue, please consider applying for a scholarship to attend Seattle.

The "Certified Kubernetes Administrator" exam has a reputation as being a very good test of experience and skill. Good description here by

"Why did you write CoreDNS?" "Nobody wants to write a DNS server, trust me. I actually wanted to have Prometheus metrics on BIND, and that turned out to be hard, so... here I am." -

I know you’re joking, but one of the strengths of the Certified Kubernetes program is that conformance re-validation can be crowdsourced to any user. No on-stage demos required.

., like the other 54 distributions and platforms (and unlike and the other 7 installers), carries patches and so is not vanilla, upstream K8s. But as with Linux, distributions and clouds carry patches without being seen as forking the kernel.

There are 34 Certified Kubernetes Distributions and 21 Hosted Platforms. If your application uses any non-conformant API (or, more likely, a value added service) you will make transitioning to a different K8s harder.

You are using a pejorative definition of fork that I don't believe applies to . It is not only Certified Kubernetes but they continue to track and be conformant with new versions of upstream.

You're only missing 38, as there are 55 Certified Kubernetes vendors. See and the spreadsheet link at the bottom.
