A bit ago @tbgrieger mentioned that he wears earplugs under his noise cancelling headphones on flights. This is almost as much of an upgrade over the headphones alone as the headphones were over nothing at all. 🤯

What's your over/under on the last time you get a phone call from an unknown number that you actually need to answer? Thinking things like deliveries, movers, appointments, etc.

I’m still bullish on code reviews but here’s my hot take: mocks and dependency injection are rarely the right tradeoff. I’m continually more convinced that full system integration tests are often the best way to test the glue-y things above library code. twitter.com/skamille/statu…

Dunno that I’d say strong opinions so much as an unexamined baseline assumption.

Hill I Will Die On: In a large software project, having 0 TODOs is a non-goal. For example, a common category of TODO is "if we later need this complexity, here's how to do it".

In case you missed it, this is novel work. Txns over partitioned consensus was previously thought to take a minimum of two consensus rounds, but we're proving it can be done in one. twitter.com/CockroachDB/st…

Incredible! Glad someone is working on this, I have enough side projects already.

@MaterializeInc Have you tried compiling to wasm? I keep thinking about a web architecture where the backend has no business logic and the database streams realtime changes directly to the web client, which then incrementally computes all UI state.

I used to be shy about asking for seconds at the farmers marker but now it’s my favorite part. For $10, I just bought enouch peaches for both 8 jars of jam and a full frozen gallon bag 🍑

I moved away from New York City 16 months ago and the food I miss most is ham egg cheese on a roll salt pepper no ketchup. I always figured it would be bagels or a Joe’s plain slice but there you go
