About the "traffic drop" - I don't think the drop is a severe as 3rd party tools make it seem. Also, there are so many issues with the site, where to begin: - super distracting & low-quality supplementary content - CTA's that interrupt/distract from main content

Issues con't: - design and UX is outdated looking and a little confusing - menu linking does not align w/URL structure - poor content/topical structure on disease pages - inconsistent main menus & navigation - topics way too varied (dogs, to keto, to ear infections... etc)

One specific example of poorly structured content - the page for "ear infection" defines an EAR in the first sentence 🤦‍♂️

I came to the exact same conclusions. His whole Wikipedia conspiracy theory is what really turned me off. Don't get me wrong. I do think G core updates are often unfair. His accusations just don't have any merit.

Check his AMP/Desktop canonicals. They had a interesting issue yesterday.

If all these clear seo "violations" have been on the website for a while why did it rank as good as it did for years? Was the site manually reviewed, or did the Google AI catch up with the site and decided to depreciate it because of the bad seo practices? Clearly some update.

Pretty sure it's the latter. It's like businesses who got away with being lousy due tomlackmof competition etc. A new player moves in and eats their lunch. They whine: "But, but... it was OK last year!?" Well, the game moves on. You didn't. You lost. Get better.
