Two books by living legends - a memoir from Paul Jennings (oh my actual GLORY!) and 'Took the Children Away' by Archie Roach. A hard act to follow but 'Claudette' and 'Julian at the Wedding' just add to this week's TBR! Join me Tuesday 6pm on Facebook:

There’s a lot to prepare before your child starts school - uniforms and shoes (go the velcro straps!), labelling and meeting new classmates. One thing you can prep WELL in advance is their literacy skills. Join my Reading Ready Webinar to find out how.

Still one of my fav Book Week costumes ever for PudStar. This was her in Prep and she was the main character from 'The Terrible Suitcase'. Book Week costumes don't have to be super fancy! If you don't know 'The Terrible Suitcase', check it out here:

Book Weeking this term? Thinking about costumes? Prue Theroux The Cool Librarian was a personal favourite of mine a few years back now. Everyone remember this book? For more costume ideas see here:

Library staff doing their thing a few Book Weeks ago! I was Raina from 'Smile' and Jas was Morrigan Crow ... joking ... she's Harry (but I think she'd make a lovely Morrigan). Are you a teacher Book Weeking in 2020? What are you going as? Ideas here:

Feel like having a crafternoon with a little Snugglepot and Cuddlepie fan? I made these cuties when PudStar was teeny (seriously, this post is like eight years old!). Here's how you can make them too.

This week's TBR Tuesday has two creators I find it very hard to be objective about - Anna Walker and Will Kostakis. Alongside the works of these two, the other books I'm reviewing had to be GREAT. Join me on Tuesday evening at 6pm on Facebook.

She still loves re-reading ‘Samurai Vs Ninja’ and EVERY TIME she does she pulls this original illustration by Tony Flowers OFF HER WALL to show me (again 😉) the page in the book it is from. Never gets old for her...and I love that knows it is special.

I often talk about how Orange BB balls are my weakness and I consume a whole packet in one sitting if I'm having a rough day! . Recently someone from work left this on my desk - I love the attached note so much. Don't good work colleagues make the biggest difference?!

Collections at home: A Mark Wilson original, a fallen nest, a collected starfish, a basket woven by my mum, a headless and flattened blue tongue lizard, a Rita Ringma ceramics bowl, the remnants of my childhood Raggedy Anne doll (the framed fabric heart) which my mum made for me.

In December 2017, after the worst year of my life, I flew to Melbourne with my mum (and no children!) to be awarded the Dromkeen Librarians award. . My speech from that day is here:

Nonna (my mum) and ChickPea have a shared love of many things. .. including bird watching! I love this photo of them pouring over 'The Australian Bird Guide' at a cafe recently. If you don't have this one, it's well worth a look:
