Better Android support. I don't expect Apple to bend backwards and have the Android experience be on par with iOS, but at least add MTP on Finder. Both Linux and Windows has this.

Windows 8.1 shows which window is focused, and lets you pick from homescreen to fill either side. If both sides are taken, then it waits for you to tell it which side you want. And if your screen is wide enough, you can even do three-up multitasking, and it all just works pic.twitter.com/6KupNKgfSo

This is a hard choice. GCC (in the Linux world) supports more devices compared to clang, but Clang developers don't let principles get in the way of new features.

I am not a fan of Metal (yet another proprietary API), but I fail to see how Vulkan would have made things different.
Metal is a very capable API, so it is not like it is a technical issue.
