I think you're right because 'miracle' is so demanding, but worth noting that this occular test is quite false-negative prone with regard more prosaic achievements. Growth has picked up a little, especially impressive given we are past the recovery part of the cycle.

Also seems like a big garden-of-forking paths problem. Why only 45-64? Many ways they could have split the data (age, sex, race), all equally publishable, no sign of correction for multiple comparisons.

This is so tacky! Only an English could do this. We would never allow this to happen in France.

Surely your bad days are unusually likely to be losing days, and thus on this model best skipped?

Imagine CFO was defined ex SBC, and SBC then added back into CFF. Would analysts have adjusted FCF to make it 'wrong'? Surely not - the standard FCF factor is an accident of history.

We have so little data, and what we have is so heavily data-mined, that I think we need to place a fair bit of reliance on factors that make theoretical sense. Not adjusting for SBC seems like a combination of status quo bias and ex post rationalisation.

I aggregate (in some sense) taxpayer education money belongs to parents/children - so it makes sense they would follow parent choices. If X% of parents choose type Y schools, it makes sense for Y to get X% of the money (as a first approximation).

I think that article is fair, but disagree that GILD's troubles were typical for new treatments pre-strong evidence. S/H was well known to work in ~97% of people - payers refused despite agreeing it was a cure. This was not a Repatha situation.

Look at the way the payers (esp. government) treated GILD over Sovaldi and Harvoni. Despite saying the system a lot in NPV terms, one year payer time horizons meant they were unwilling to pay.

Sort of: internal human body temperature. Small deviations make quite sick, then dead, then it doesn't get much worse from there. May not be true because if you get cold enough cryonics starts to work.

Also these are not 'new reasons'. There has been sexual violence, police corruption and poverty for a very long time. I think the signatories were well aware of ethnic strife. And climate change has caused migrations for thousands of years!

Ever wondered why Dwarves run the banks? Long generation length implies low time preference (as in evolutionary equilibrium wealth must double to offset the halving of genetic relatedness) hence they tend to be lenders to shorter generation races.
