Seems worth noting there is not a single Republican woman on the Senate Judiciary Committee as it figures out how to deal with this Kavanaugh situation. Not a single one. In 2018. Seems like not too much has changed since Clarence Thomas/Anita Hill hearings.

The pinnacle of computer vision will be when I can snap a photo of a burger and find out exactly how much fat and salt I’m about to eat. The cost of that tech will be when all of that data gets chopped up and monetized by some faceless corporation. Technology in a nutshell.

This book looks so fascinating. My generation is the first in Japan to have basically only known a country in decline. It's the story our our lives. Empire of Hope: The Sentimental Politics of Japanese Decline --

When I write about women in male-dominated professions, I often get asked whether it matters for men to be in female-dominated jobs like teaching. So I looked into it, and the answer is yes: it benefits students a lot, as does racial diversity.

This was the hardest story personally I have ever worked on. Still think about it. A reminder that there are heroes even in great tragedies.

While much of the Trump agenda is in chaos,it's chugging ahead on environmental deregulation, including new moves to undo climate regs. “In climate change and energy, they appear to have brought in people who know exactly what they’re doing, and know exactly where the levers are.”
