I 100% have always believed in climate change but it’s still hard to grasp humans are capable of this much damage. I watched Interstellar last night and kept thinking, this could really happen to us soon. However I hope our solution isn’t to abandon Earth, but to save it.

When Notre Dame was burning, the world's media covered every moment of it and billionaires rushed to restore it. Right now the Amazon is burning, the lungs of our planet. It has been burning for 3 weeks now. No media coverage. No billionaires.

To be clear: the earth will not explode or cease to exist from climate change. It will be fine. It has survived ice ages, solar flares and asteroids. However, it is becoming increasingly less habitable for humans. Important yet simple distinction a lot of politicians need to hear

The Amazon Rainforest is on fire. Iceland mourned the passing of a glacier. Wildfires ravaged the arctic circle. 197,000,000,000,000 kilograms of water melted off of Greenland’s ice sheet Sea ice is at a record low. July was the hottest month on record.

Earths most important ecosystem has been on fire for two weeks, we just lost the first Icelandic glacier, ocean acidification & heat are at their highest level. We don’t have a couple years anymore, we have months. Wake up! Think about your kids future.

First time I can remember was standing at a street corner at 12 years old waiting to walk to the mall and I was catcalled. Our innocence is stolen from us at a young age.
