A sofa, chair and mattress were fly-tipped on the road between Pica and Distington, this has cost the taxpayer to remove. We are asking anyone with any information relating to this incident, to get in touch by phone on 01946 598300 or email at info@copeland.gov.uk.

We have begun to take delivery of 18 truckloads of recycling boxes for the new service - that's a grand total of 104,544 boxes over the coming days. The next task will be to deliver them out to our residents over a period of weeks - we'll let you know when that's due to start.

We asked our residents their thoughts on the most common issues in Copeland. Over 42% of respondents said that littering was the most common issue, with dog fouling coming in a close second.

3/3 The Govt calculates this fig from the Council Tax list. Last year Govt changed the formula so only any net additional homes over and above the 'natural' level of growth are eligible for the funding. As a result Copeland will only receive about £4000 from the NHB for 17/18.

2/3 Councils get a NHB - equivalent to the Council Tax - for every net additional home (new homes built/brought back into use minus homes lost through demolition, conversion etc. or becoming empty). Additional funding is provided for every new affordable home built.

The planning fee for the erection of a single dwelling is £462. This fee is required to finance the processing of the application. Fees are set by Central Government and all applications are assessed against Government Policy and Local Plan policy.

Dame Edith Brown was born in Whitehaven in 1864 and opened Asia's first medical training facility for women, in India. See a new display about her at the Beacon Museum from tomorrow. Part of "Celebrating Women of Cumbria" to mark 100 years since some women got the vote.

The have issued a further weather warning for snow and ice . Snow showers forecast during Thursday and Friday. Ice will also form in some areas overnight, increasing the chances of accidents or injuries. Be careful out there.

In total 519 residents responded to our Pride of Place survey, with 31% of respondents saying they were proud to live, work in or visit the borough of Copeland. A further 51% said they were proud at times and only 18% said they were not proud.

I had the tough task this afternoon of judging entries from Bookwell School in our recycling poster competition. There were some first class designs and thank you to all those from Year 5 who took part. We'll be choosing a winner soon and the design will form part of our campaign
