You aren't wrong, though there's still some democracy in the mix. There's a reason folks like Bloomberg had trouble just straight-up buying high office.

Plus he's well-positioned to cheat for himself, and is clearly planning to do so, extensively.

That's definitely an upside! My wife's been making our stock for years and it's really good. Also, if you don't roast your own chicken (to get bits for stock,) that, too, gets really good results.

I assume most people who "think" the comparisons are unfounded mean "it's not yet late-Hitler, only early-to-mid-regime Hitler, and in a few years I'll say nobody could possibly have known it was coming."

If you're terrible about remembering what's in your clipboard, it can be both!

Unrelated to this (fun, lovely) grotesque... Had you already seen Necropolis, by Jake Wyatt? WHOAH.

We like it. Inverness (the Highlands) is gorgeous. And the UK turns out to have an *amazing* visa for incoming software engineers:

Staying in California, or settling elsewhere? (Either way, my family's in Scotland these days.)

True. But I generally consider performance one of the less-important areas of difference. C is *amazing* for performance, but you should never use it to write a web app anyway :-)

Alas, no. Languages and paradigms are, in most cases, only a small boost or penalty. But occasionally it's a *huge* difference, like if you're trying to build a web app in C. But it's also really hard to *get* evidence (see: Leprechauns of Software Engineering.)

Whoah. Okay, so no more SHA-1 in secure applications. Not that I've done that any year recently, but still, good to know.

Also: may depend if you've upgraded an older Mac to Catalina or if you did a full reinstall. I had more Catalina trouble from an upgrade than a full reinstall :-(

You're clearly not the only one. Two of the solutions here seem possible (delete Preview's config, reset its permissions):

I've added tag links to the blog so it'll be easier to find other interesting articles from one you've read now, too :-)

The moral of the story here is that I need to get better at posting what I write/video/etc to Twitter.

Odd experience today: I noticed I'd been hearing a lot of good stuff from lately (his email list is very good!) I searched back through email and thought, "whoah, that's a lot." Then I realised I'd been writing about as much.
