Hi Mark! That black diamond is the replacement character for invalid UTF-8. Depending on the special characters you're typing and the encoding of your file, this may be according to spec. Can you open an issue with a sample file where you're seeing this?

hi! open the extension viewlet (cmd+x) and from the "..." dropdown choose "Show Built-in Extensions". from there you can disable any you don't want.

sorry about this - you are using 2 snippets (if is a snippet that doesn't do much and __main__ is another snippet) so technically it is doing the right thing. maybe you could create your own snippet for __main__ ?
