(4) Slot battles are not so frequent that it really makes a difference until the end. this would probably only be the case if a majority of all pools (more precisely stake) are located in the same physical data center (some cloud)

Best solution is doing what you would like to see. Each pool operator has his priorities, and if it's not just "earning what's possible without much efforts" can pick from a very lot of challenges and todos. Webdesign and educational content is just one of it.
