Reporting negligent practice, however, is not an inconvenience. We have a professional code of ethics for a reason (and hopefully, a personal code of ethics too). How much longer would it have been before someone stood up and did the right thing? What did it have to take?

Considering this is a niche subject & that theres only around 30,000 (not all working in MH) OTs in the uk, I'm blown away that this has been read 1200 times in the past few days Also delighted this view isnt controversial anymore

Having been reading about conceptualising suicide as a rational and autonomous act, I have been reflecting on my own suicide attempts and my own understanding of rationality, autonomy, and free will. Should my decision to end my own life have been respected?

I can't bring Oliver back so all I can hope is that Doctors learn from the mistakes they have made Realise when working with learning disabled patients that parents know their child's medical condition far more than they do and that they effectively communicate with all

A nurse I know left because she couldn’t take working on a filthy, unpleasant ward, she couldn’t stand by and see patients abused within sight of managers and she hated the fact she couldn’t change the system.

This piece by is particularly essential reading after . A reminder that the systemic abusers in an institution will always be *the staff*. It is not them who need protecting. What good would body worn cameras have done in the hands of Whorlton Hall staff?

I couldn't watch . It was too much. But please know that psychiatric hospitals aren't all abusive and scary. They can be places of healing, safety, even laughter. They are necessary for many ill people.
