First 3 things to focus on as a new manager:
1. Trust – Building trust should be #1 focus. Trust is NOT likability. Trust = Vulnerability, explaining intentions, following through on commitments. It's saying to your team: "I'll need your help," and not making empty promises...

2. Honesty – Practice communicating honestly. Schedule regular 1:1s w/ each team member (and others in org). Invest in preparing for them (10- 15 min per meeting). Don't ask vague q's like "How's it going?" Ask specific q’s like, "What do you think we're behind the curve on?"...

3. Context – Create context within the team around progress ("what's going on?") and vision ("where are we going?"). Figure out a system for everyone to know what everyone else is working on. Co-create and share the picture for what the world looks like when team is successful..

After studying managers for almost the past 10 years, it consistently, it always comes back to these 3 things: Trust, Honesty, Context. (As a result, it's the entire basis of @KnowYourTeamHQ methodology.)
New managers, keep it simple: Focus on trust, honesty, and context.
