This day 100 years ago – 25 October 1920 – Terence MacSwiney died after 74 days on hunger strike. MacSwiney, the Lord Mayor of Cork, was serving two years in Brixton Prison. His only daughter, Máire, later became President of her local Fianna Fáil cumann in South Dublin.
