I'd add this, if Trump is carrying the Southern swing states, it may be days until we "know," but if Biden carries one or more of the Sunbelt swing states, we are more likely to know on E night.

I think the reality is somewhere in between... There will be some states that we may not know for a few days (WI/PA/MI) could all take a few days to count. But we will get full vote counts in FL, NC, OH and GA on E night... so we will know a lot

One thing to keep in mind on the Senate battle; how many races we will NOT know results for on Election Night: both GAs (likely runoffs), ME (ranked choice voting), MT & AK (always take forever to finish counting). On ELECTION NIGHT, IA and NC will be known! Does one party sweep?

Point is, the remaining undecideds look like disaffected Republicans... do they come "home" to Trump or skip the election, vote third party or Biden?

Whether there are many undecideds is unclear (i think less than 5%), but Trump's biggest problem in winning undecideds is that he has the (i) next to his name on the ballot... In enviros like this, undecideds rarely go for incumbents. That said, current undecideds are R lean

It looks like they are both sort of starting to think about defending their must wins... Trump heading back to GA and FL... Biden adding a MN stop Friday... Nobody wants to have that feeling like 2016 when states fell that weren't targeted in time

Luckily, some key states process early and mail-in votes before election day and so even on election night, we will have some important clues.. early poll closings in VA (will it be a double digit spread for Biden?) could provide a clue. But the big early ones: OH, NC, GA and FL!
