I heard someone say, “I want my church to look like the book of Acts. Period!” Cool. Get ready for folks dying in church (chapter 5) Persecution (chapter 8) Racial/ethnic tensions (chapter 15) Selling your property (chapter 4) Riots (chapter 19) And more!!!

We can read the Bible every day and still have our hearts firmly against the ways of the kingdom of God. Until we read scripture through the lens of the crucified Christ, our exegesis becomes subject to personal and/or political preference.

Preaching is not just the dissemination of information. The preaching moment is a time to deconstruct destructive ideologies, question prevailing fallen values, offer a vision of what is possible in Jesus and prophesy a word of liberation.

To move a church leadership from a focus on numbers, efficiency, programs, and the world's definition of success to quality discipleship, the few, the slow, the messy, and the appearance of little impact is a true revolution.

Discipleship to Jesus is not a solo endeavor with your favorite books and podcasts, it's a journey with others in vulnerability and accountability.
