Before the days of streaming platforms, we spent a year breaking down the 5 books into a Prydain film trilogy for Disney. Lot of development with vested Disney internal stakeholders, it just never panned out, but the story breakdown worked well across 3 films.

Depending on the publisher, they should offer distribution, printing, marketing, publicity, logistical support, editing, book packaging, and accounting for the project. Depending on what they do for that versus what they want in return, and what it means for freeing up your time.
