It's an age thing, not a foreigner thing.

For those of you waiting on academy fixtures, they're due to be released next Thursday, July 25th. Seasons start the weekend of August 9th-12th.

Needless to say I'd go about things rather differently altogether, but an example was required, so needs must.

If you want Batshuayi, Zouma and Kenedy to stay, for example, you have to lose Bakayoko (which seems to be happening anyway), but then to accommodate Pulisic in the CL squad you have to lose one of those three or someone else altogether as he can't go on the B List in Europe yet.

Not really a midfielder, though some areas of encouragement. Wonder what his output would look like on a CB radar even though he played in midfield.

Brief highlights of the draw against Rennes yesterday. Izzy Brown's goal is...something.

If you want your pre-season football fix this weekend, get down to Poole tomorrow to watch complete a Dorset double after take on Bournemouth a few hours earlier. If you can't get there, stay here for news instead.

Jorginho and Kovacic did some good stuff together in the first half. Not a big tactics guy but it seemed evident that the play went through those two w/narrow wide forwards to encourage the full-backs to get into the attack but they didn't do that often enough. Themes to work on.

He got a little time at a point where a lot of structure had broke down and didn't do anything of note. A shame.

Biggest takeaway from that is the intensity of the game in those sort of conditions; hard to come by in pre-season so that'll be a big help towards fitness levels. First half showed enough interesting themes to build upon, second half was far more pre-seasony. More games to come.

Had the same feeling in the first half, at least in the role they can play in this sort of shape.

Not entirely sure Kenedy would get a regular game for the Dev Squad.
