I have only done it with crystal sugar, but it might be a fun thing to experiment, I would think turbinado sugar would work. My granny makes a cookie glaze with powdered sugar and food coloring that is always really pretty.

Oooh good question! I tend to make my own colored sugar for decorating. It’s super easy. I put sugar in a mason jar with a bit of food coloring and shake shake shake! I did it on my YouTube video when I made a gf king cake.

Already made the dressing and pie dough. I will make the rum pecan pie and vanilla brown butter buttermilk pie in a bit. About to make the satsuma glaze for the sweet potatoes.
