Great to meet with Greek Foreign Minister earlier today. In a time of great challenges in the Eastern Mediterranean, the U.S.-Greece relationship is more critical than ever for our shared security and stability.

Regardless of your opinion, Turkey’s invasion in unjustifiable and has been condemned by the international community and continues to be illegal and illegitimate.

The Turkish population in the ‘60s was about 18%. The Greeks were fighting against the British. Turkey’s invasion, mass murder, displacement of 1/3 the island, and occupation is a complexly unjust and illegal.

I’m not sure I understand what you’re talking about. Today, there’s one legitimate government where all citizens have equal rights, as Cypriots, and an illegal occupation in the north.

No country aside from Turkey, the occupant, recognizes the “TRNC”. Cyprus has been very clear that all citizens of the republic will have equal rights whether Greek, Turkish, Armenian, etc once the island is reunified. As it stands the TRNC is illegal.

The former Yugoslav republic now North Macedonia was created in 1944 by Communist Tito Braz to annex Macedonia, Greece to gain access to the sea. It’s failed communist propaganda. It was ancient Paeonia later a part of southern Serbia.

The modern inhabitants of North Macedonia are ethnically Bulgarian. Also, NM lies on ancient Paeonia. Alexander was from Pella, Macedonia northern Greece and spread Hellenism to India. Followed by the Hellenistic Period.

The Prespa Agreement, which was controversial both in Greece and in North Macedonia makes clear that North Macedonia has no connection or claim to ancient Macedonian culture, including any of its historic symbols.

He was an Ancient Macedonian which is an Ancient Greek just like the Ancient Athenians and Spartans were Greek. The Prespa Agreement b/w North Macedonia & Greece clarifies that the NM has no ties to Ancient Macedonia, which was a Hellenic Kingdom.
