it is a communal subtweet! I have heard of this happening before, numerous times. always to women and, more often than not, women who probably did more work on the book than anyone else.

Too true. And where is Marian's invite? And what's a party without her? Boring. People should skip it and go on a tuna melt crawl instead.

And the crawl part was the best part! (Always is.)

if blesses us with the gift of a recipe for risotto, of any kind, we are compelled to save it in the archives. and if she blesses us with the gift of a recipe for PORCINI risotto during porcini season... we are compelled to make it:

i loved tuna melts as a kid & i enjoyed this story very much. but i only ate them at home (i.e. homemade), as a kid, in NYC. in college, tho, sometimes i'd escape to diner on the square (in philly) & order their tuna melt, which was on an english muffin, w/bacon.

Meghan’s banana bread went down well! It has chocolate chips in and a bit of ginger (and I can personally attest to the fact that it is rather nice!)

and so i made a cake. and i took the recipe for Marian Burros plum torte apart and put it back together a little different (olive oil, for one), and then i dropped black olives into it (the oil-cured ones, please), instead of plums. IT IS TOTALLY GREAT.

And i had an idea! who has had Liz Quijada's black olive shortbread at Abraco on East 7th Street in NYC? It is so good, right? And like, WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT? So I thought what if it was a cake... and what if it was an olive oil cake

i'll speed it up... Aishwarya asked if i'd be into developing a recipe using the olive oil and a cast-iron skillet for the Brightland website. and i was like, OKAY, because you guys know i love any excuse to come up with a recipe and make it a challenge.

maybe a week after it arrived, , who founded the company with her husband, emailed me to say she'd noticed I'd shopped and that she had my skillet baking cookbook and it had made her and her husband love their cast-iron skillet. which, ❤️.
