Xcode. Activity Monitor is reporting the total logical footprint of your app but not what’s being consumed by what you’d consider your app to be.

Actually, Xcode was off by 2 GB. Just found the bug two seconds ago. And now I get to figure out why the analyzer didn’t catch this one- I wasn’t releasing a CGImageRef.

Activity Monitor includes all the memory mapped files like shared libraries and such, right? 2.4G seems like a lot though.

Always equip a computer with the maximum amount of ram and stop thinking about how the memory is used.
