Just an irregular reminder that a Millennial is someone born 1981-1996, so they are currently 23-38 years old. Using it as a slur is lazy anyway, but it looks that much more ridiculous when a thirty-something year old aims it at a teenager.

Creating is hard work (even though we don’t like to admit it). So how do you balance it with a full-time job? Here’s how to make creating a film as easy as possible

Still kinda off social media. Not for any post-truth sort of reason, I just had an allergic reaction to the new pill I was taking 😩 and now I’m recovering from a very unnecessarily ill weekend

I’m getting some serious desk envy today (especially since I don’t even have a desk right now). But trust me, as soon as I get one it’ll look as beautiful as this and probably - hopefully…

Apologies for being a little bit out of it lately. My brain hasn’t really been doing words or full sentences and I’m such an introvert that whenever something isn’t quite right I just need to be quiet for a little while

I’m really glad someone completely gets my point. It’s tough for teens and young grads as it is, without people hating on them for being in a situation they have almost no control over

And as so many people have pointed out, Hiran included, so few creatives actually make £18k/annum. How are they supposed to survive? It’s simple maths

That’s a really interesting approach. I didn’t go to uni because I knew enough to get my career going and was terrified at even the prospect of £40k debt. Most teens I know went to uni with the sole aim of getting a good career out of it

That was the average my tutors found from a load of statistics. I’m not sure I’ve ever met any freelance filmmakers actually making that much

Everyone who starts out in film, university degree or not, is working for free, for expenses or a very poor day rate. How do you expect those people to survive? How do they pay their rent? How do they afford food? They go broke, they quit, and the industry loses another person

There’s a huge difference between not making as much money as people in other jobs/industries and not making enough money to cover basic living costs. Filmmakers starting out can end up spending months doing expenses only jobs. It’s just as bad as some of the internship schemes

So you’re suggesting that people don’t become filmmakers unless they have a sizeable trust fund that they can use to pay the rent with? Good way to kill an industry I suppose

Just because they’re overambitious kids who love making films doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t be able to make a living from it
