CDP has Hive, Impala, and Phoenix officially. Un-offically, they can't really drop Spark, so SparkSQL is there. That's even before you get to which Hive backend to use (MR vs. Tez vs Spark).

As far as writing TEL batchs for a Hadoop datalake can be delighting ! Not afraid to say that Cascading made the project possible and viable. I would never say thx enough to the fwk and its authors.
