And that’s a wrap! Our , and postgrad practicing interdisciplinarity workshop was a great success- networking and project ideas spanning EBay credit card fraud to 3D printed bone and biomethane fuel cells.......

Big q: Will it be rigorous enough? says yes. “It’s academics who think you need 24 modules in one discipline to be a proper graduate. Kids are like, ‘not so much, I will take what I need but complement it and enrich it’.“

Given the current state of affairs I'd say a hazy grip is the most realistic grip.

Q at the heart of it s: is uni worth it? V imp for health, wealth and happiness but also, very £ and in the UK, very narrow. will scrap single academic areas and put problem @ center of curriculum and rsch methods around it (data science, mach. learning, interviewing)

The future of work is radically changing - does the future of higher ed need to change to prepare for it? Ed Fidoe and think so: They are founding a new university in UK based on interdisciplinarity (it’s a word) via

This is why I passionately support contextual university admissions - A-level grades alone are NOT a robust measure of potential. They MUST be considered alongside the context in which they are achieved.

Everyone that works in software knows that modularity, encapsulation, and weak coupling is necessary to make a robust application We fail to apply this to our most crucial systems

I always talk about the power of crossing over from where you think you stand to meet others. This is brilliant and I would like to see more people be this grown up and meet to actually talk about their views not just shout on Twitter. 💜

Is economics education changing?... Today at the University of Manchester, the 1st macroeconomics lecture for 1st year students included this - kudos to the prof. But is this a passing moment for 'heterodox' thinking, or the start of a new paradigm?

Correct. Peer review entered only recently & devitalized science. There is now a *massive* campaign by people who use it to their advantage to rewrite scientific history as if it has always been there as part of the scientific method. This is modern propaganda. A cult. Madness.

Honestly, the question is not, and has never been, "can machine learning replace radiologists/etc" (which won't happen in the foreseeable future). The question is, how can radiology/etc utilize ML to improve outcomes, decrease the cost of care, and broaden accessibility.

This, for example: "It is clear that we have entered a period of rapid educational decline, in which some people learn masses, but the masses learn little or nothing at all." It's not at all "clear" that this is the case. Many people as erudite as Scruton would dispute it.
