We do use Google Docs for that, unfortunately. We also have a self-hosted Jitsi instance for video calls, which seems to work well enough. And, naturally, no Slack. 😉

I'm unreasonably happy about the fact that I now work for a company that uses . Also, this is the first time I've experienced Inbox Zero in the past nine years. And it feels so good.

Would love to know what you think of the Atreus after a month or two of use -- I think it's just slightly too minimal for me, but I'm otherwise really interested in it. I've got a Moonlander on order, so we'll see how that goes.

The best part of the offer negotiation was asking for a commitment to fund at least one internship for underrepresented folks in free and open source software. Element agreed without hesitation. Small cost, big impact. Consider asking your employer to do the same!

Proud to announce that I'm joining tomorrow as an engineering manager supporting the Synapse team. We build the flagship server software for the federated chat protocol. Privacy is a human right, and our communication channels should preserve that.

How are ratings even calculated these days? I know way back when you had to have an actual logbook and then later a set top box dedicated to measuring... But I imagine the normal cable boxes could just do the telemetry now?

I think that was the original intent. They tried to address spam this year by suddenly changing to only count contributions to repos tagged with "Hacktoberfest," but that message clearly hasn't reached everyone...

Zotter Trinkschokolade is really enjoyable and a bit different (they're little chocolate bars that you dissolve in hot milk). Austrian, but a few varieties appear to be available on Amazon UK. Or buy direct at , free shipping to the UK on orders over €35.

Ah, but they are relevant when he is incapable of checking those views at the door. Or least, that was the case at the programming conference where I saw him keynote. I'm not going to lose any sleep over the cancelling of someone who can't behave professionally on stage.

Woo! Just got my absentee ballot! Minnesota does a great job of making it easy to vote from abroad. For the rest of you expats:
