That's great to hear! Especially as I'm not autistic, it's good to know I'm doing stuff that really strikes a chord with autistic people!

I had the pleasure of talking to AMASE about my research last year - it's been good to reflect on the differences between my mindset then and now. And how I still feel I'm barely scratching the surface - but feels like some good first steps!

I think the same - a PhD is reflection of fortitude and determination more than intelligence imo. Mine has tested my mental strength far more than my academic ability!

Certainly! I'm examining social motivation, and how it may relate to autistic people's mental health. I hope that these and findings from other studies will help guide orgs and policies in making changes which benefit autistic people's mental wellbeing.

Incredible news and we can’t thank the upper school pupils enough! We’re so honoured and grateful for this - your generosity will make a HUGE difference in the lives of some kids who REALLY deserve a holiday.

I do realise that vouchers can be tokenistic, and think there should be a system in place for researchers like me to pay cash. Perhaps I made the wrong call and should have pushed harder, but at present I decided to compromise and give vouchers, as immediate recompense.

It could be considered so yes. It would mean people having to fill in a form 100 with personal and bank details. There would also be a delay in payment as it goes through the department's financial systems. I decided that an immediate voucher would be better.

I really did try to get my department to agree to this, but they said it wouldn't work within their systems. As it would then count as work, people would have to register as employees, and that's a hefty rigmarole for all involved.
