Had a lot of fun hashing out with . Check it out our conversation about decentralised privacy and interoperability

The power of in action. I haven't had the time to implement flattening for truffle-plugin-verify, so this crucial feature was just added through a PR by Vincent from 🎉. Who wants to take the new version for a test drive?

Each node identity needs to be equal in value, so using many tokens needs a decentralised price feed. Using one existing token couples RenVM that project unnecessarily. Using removes those issues and also means the security of the network goes up as it is used.

But users don’t need the token, only those wanting to run nodes in the network.

It’s necessary to help protect against malicious adversaries creating arbitrary many identities, thereby subverting the sMPC.

The team recently demonstrated our decentralised sMPC network to bridge BTC and ZEC with Ethereum. Decentralised, permissionless, and un/wrapping is completely hidden from the user (all they need is a normal ZEC wallet).

With every month interoperabilityfor the decentralised world gets closer and closer. This month, we successfully exchanged and real on an Ethereum DEX without the need for users to wrap or unwrap anything. Interoperability is closer than you think 😏

I love this take, it highlights the true advantages of the decentralised world. It’s unstoppable, it’s permissionless (and soon it’ll be private too 😏).

This was done without any centralised authority. Using our new sMPC algorithm, RenVM can shift tokens from one blockchain to another without needing trust and without needing permission. What will you use BTC for when brings truly decentralised interoperability to mainnet?

These are the logs of one Darknode in our Devnet while the network accepts BTC and shifts it over into the Ethereum Kovan blockchain.Check out the transactions: Kovan: Bitcoin Testnet:

Assuming a worst case scenario where governments worldwide outlaw decentralised privacy (I really don’t see this happening), the interoperability offered by Ren would still be usable and remain one of its greatest value propositions.

That’s incorrect. Darknode operators do not undergo KYC much like how Ethereum miners don’t undergo KYC. Likewise, it’s up to the applications built on Ren to make their own decision about KYC; this cannot be enforced at a protocol level.

It‘s always hard to accept that going to sleep is the best thing to do when deadlines are looming. Harder still to act on that knowledge, especially when you love what you are working on.

Our dev team has made fast work of our recent tasks. The highlight has been new RenVM instructions that can bridge tokens between blockchains. Soon, we’ll be able to share these demos with the whole community. Have a read

makes it into the top 3 for dev activity this month. Interoperable swapping on RenVM is coming along faster than we could have hoped. Feeling unstoppable.

Had fun talking about RenVM, it’s inception, and its future on the podcast. Looking forward to the beginning of privacy and interoperability more than ever!
