Tornado warning, DC. Seek shelter immediately. Do not drive. Lowest floor interior room... for downtown Washington and surroundings. Stay away from windows.

It's 3:45 p.m. Really pretty late for the Senators still to be in town working on a Thursday.

. says agreement on disaster aid was reached. $19.1 billion. Disaster aid only, no immigration related $. POTUS supports it. Senate will vote in an hour or so on it. TBD on the House (which is already gone for recess)

Richard Shelby says a deal has been reached for a straightforward $19.1 billion disaster relief bill and he expects the Senate to vote on it this afternoon. He says Trump has agreed to sign the bill, though it doesn’t include funding for border security, as the admin had urged.

Grassley statement on SECURE retirement bill calls for "quick passage" in the Senate. Doesn't sound like key senators will make a fuss over differences between House and Senate versions. Now it's just about whether any senators object to unanimous vote and how quickly it goes.

Amash is still talking obstruction, but hasn’t signed onto Democratic impeachment resolutions yet. He told me he’d “want to make sure that whatever I do legislatively is based on the positions I have and not based on some positions someone else has.”

NEW: Shelby tells reporters that he spoke to Leahy last night about taking all extraneous provisions out of the disaster relief bill and passing that. “I’m up to that,” he says, “Just pure disaster stuff.”

"According to data from the U.S. State Department and the charity World Relief, only 23 Iraqi Christians were admitted to the United States in 2018, compared with nearly 2,000 in 2016. Families still in Iraq now look to Europe and Australia instead."
