Human river in central Hong Kong. Police nowhere to be seen. Real example of the power of the people - and very moving too.

Bottom line: Trump is ready to strike EU & Japan with auto tariffs whenever he wants. He’s not doing it yet though...

Exactly. This is the formal announcement. Hard to tell what exactly he is expecting from EU & Japan. Seems like another “I’ll strike if I get mad” notice

Wow. Trump just issued his 232 auto decision on a summer Friday. In letter to Congress, he says: 1) Auto imports are a nat’l security threat 2) He’s given Lighthizer 180 days to negotiate deals w/EU & Japan 3) Trunp ready to “take further action” (ie tariffs) any time

On this issue I have a long track record of being critical of both parties and will continue to do that. Even the tweets you showcase from the 2013 Obama SOTU are me being sarcastic about Obama's claim that nothing he'll propose adds to deficit... "yeah, right"

This is an issue I have cared deeply about for years. One of my 1st columns as a journalist in 2009 was about the debt and critical of Obama (see here: ) And yes, I covered it at CNN, too: Chart No. 1 on Obama economy = debt

Big piece today from me is all about OPPORTUNITY ZONES--you know, the big tax break program that's supposed to generate billions of dollars for distressed communities. I went to Los Angeles to see how it’s playing out.

Friday evening news: President Trump wants to "terminate" 1/3rd of the federal advisory committees by September 30, 2019. Will be interesting which ones get the ax... there are around 1,000.

Walmart, Target, Costco and more than 500 companies wrote to Trump Thursday warning that tariffs will have a "significant, negative, and long-term impact" on the US economy and harm consumers.

Powerful: 2 years after a gunman opened fire on the GOP congressional baseball practice those injured have a message "We can agree or disagree, we need to do that with civility and with respect...Hopefully people will learn the lesson from that day"

Larry Kudlow on the deficit: "I don't think we're at a crisis point right now. It's not a catastrophe. Doesn't bother me right now." Note: The deficit is up ~80% since Trump took office and is soon expected to hit $1 trillion.

Larry Kudlow basically calls for Fed to cut interest rates in June event: "Far be it for me to suggest it would be great if the FOMC cut their target rate at the June meeting." (Market is pricing in a rate cut in July).

Wow. The Office of Special Counsel finds that repeatedly violated the Hatch Act and **is recommending her removal from federal service.**
