thoughts benefits vs. costs of FOSS?
I see the benefit as an unknown beginner, but why continue with an established reputation?

Review comment: I had trouble parsing this quote:
"I had never realized how much Americans like to should you to death."
I thought there was a typo at first. Maybe put "should" in quotes?

This is really great, thank you for writing (and for all of your FOSS contributions). I found myself agreeing with so much of this post.

Sidenote: your RSS feed doesn't return all of your blog posts, I guess it's one level too high (or that's intentional?)

Thank you for writing this — I was nodding along as I read, and agree with everything you wrote. On a personal note, I consider you among the best examples of a responsible and thoughtful open-source developer, and I regularly appreciate the way in which you engage online ♥️

Recognition of the presence of emotions is one of the most insidious kinds of maladaptive masculinity imparted on young people (both back then and now). You do a great job of pointing out that without getting deep in the weeds that usually scares people off the topic. Great read!

That tweet reads wrong, should be "Failure of recognition" -- made sense in my head, not on readback. :(

Thanks for writing this article, @burntsushi5. Very insightful.
For the record, I'm a daily user of many of your crates and haven't ever had a reason to file an issue about any of them. Just to say: silence sometimes hides great positive experiences.
To be explicit,
Thank you ❤️
