I generally like the artist who painted Michelle, but I have to confess to wishing that the first lady's skin was rendered as luminously as this. It's one of her best features.

As I tweeted at length yesterday, I'm a fan of the artist. I don't think she applied her aesthetic to good effect in this portrait, which is why I miss Michelle's skin.

Yeah. It's sort of unfair that because they are "firsts" they have to fulfill so many desires, but I sort of felt this way too. I like the artist's style, but given how important representation is, I wanted this portrait to be more representational and less expressive.
