I came to this country as an international student, first as an ISEP exchange student and later as an F1 student in a Ph.D. program. I cannot imagine the extreme stress the recent news must have caused international students across this country.

The decision to force international students out of the country is inhumane and destructive to universities and the US economy. Please sign. Allow F-1 students to stay in the US through the fall semester if instruction is online due to the pandemic

I’ve watched this about 15 times tonight. I’m obsessed with big cats.

Yes! I finally watched it tonight. It was so powerful to see their expressions up close. And the humor! Plus Lin Manuel Miranda’s and Philipa Soo’s faces during It’s Quiet Uptown. 😭 That wrecked me.

Had they only known you were going to be there! It also skews early—c16 to early c18. It would be great to have you join!

Carla Pestana and Molly Warsh organized it. I hope you’ll join us for the virtual convo. It’s become much more of a workshop—7 page pre-circulated papers on big interpretive questions or methodologies.

It would be a great way to go! (Gallows humor, obvi.) I’m part of a Caribbean conference at the Huntington in Sept. (Randy, too, no?). It’s been moved online. With proper mitigation I’d be okay w working there. Family & travel are much harder. It’s rough to be apart that long.

These reports have been concerning me too.

Yeah, I can see that. The difference to me is home vs shared space, not Ohio vs CA. Ohio’s infection rates are about 60% higher than CA. But I’m not ready for shared work spaces either, and when I have to be away from family I get nervous and squirrelly no matter where it is.

I’d rather die at the Huntington than live almost anywhere else, but you’ll be fine. CA is much more sane than most places, and 27 states plus DC have higher per capita death rates. NJ and NY each have 10X higher death rates.
