I'm really kind of stunned how quickly the United States slid into a situation where 30% of the population, concentrated in institutions of information and power, is actively opposing US founding principles.

Just three items today reveal exactly how bad it is, and although some on the right are fighting it, everyone seems to be treating this as politics as normal.

It only seems fast on the outside. It’s been in the works for 50 years. They were all just hiding it before now.

Three: it isn't conspiracy mongering to conclude the US federal bureaucracy attempted a "soft" coup:

I think part of the reason it seems fast is President Obama was seriously doing everything he could undermine and fundamentally transform the US, and everyone in information/power covered for him. Even the RINOs. John McCain betrayed the Right, his constituents, and the nation.

Not just John McCain, of course, but he is one of the extremely prominent traitors, in part because he used his military service as a shield for some profoundly treacherous actions, like scuttling the repeal of Obamacare. I am fully convinced he saw his duty was to lose to Obama

The lack of civics class & the honoring of American history public school population cohort has come of age at least twice now & they are spewing their errant foolishness on everyone.

Now, that last part *is* conspiracy mongering. But there's evidence for it.

Some are fighting it. Democrats are embracing and pushing the fight where they can. The mushy middle *still* says "A pox on both your houses. Both sides are equally corrupt", and then votes Democrat because Trump is icky.

I mention John McCain specifically because he was the one to oppose Obama in the election, and I think he threw it. Then during Obama's terms in office, McCain often gave rhetorical cover for Obama's actions. Then McCain did everything he could to prevent rectification via Trump.

Let's descend into conspiracy mongering again: it also seems as if he had blackmail information on Sen. Graham, because Sen. Graham was McCain's partner in granting legitimacy to Obama's actions and undermining conservative opposition, until the day McCain died.

There can be no doubt that the GOP proper enabled all of this. McCain being chief among them. It’s this betrayal that really, to use the trope, got us trump

the only stunning thing to me is how oblivious another 30% of the population is to it. (if not more)

It has really accelerated over the last 30 or so years, but the communist takeover of media has been going on for a lot longer than that.
