Well yes, clearly not. Although one party presumably thought they were.

Imagine secretly recording your friends and releasing the tape to the press. That's a pretty lowdown thing to do.

If "life means life" is deemed too extreme for a man who raped eleven women and children in the space of two weeks, can we at least be honest about what's going on and stop using the term "life imprisonment" for prisoners who can be released on parole?

Possibly but it does seem a very obvious missing link in the transport network. It might be one of those things where the real benefits only become clear once it's built. But being a rail fan I'd build/reinstate new lines everywhere if I could!

Was just about to agree with him when he goes and ruins it by saying HS2 is a vanity project.

’’It’s just such a mess, isnt it.” A long read from me about how people are feeling in Bury South. Was struck by how real the disdain and confusion is in Radcliffe, but unease in Prestwich too. Very few people celebrating the choice on offer

Today in 1916 David Lloyd George became Prime Minister. The first from a rural, artisanal background without wealth, illustrious family connection or military experience.

Never really thought of it like that. Not missing them so much now... (ok maybe a bit).

This is a bit rich from Will Hutton in The Observer today. Even if you accept this to be true it's only after nearly 20 years of the opposite being the case where quangos and the middle and upper reaches of the public sector and media have been dominated by a left-wing cabal.

Bitterly cold and blowing an absolute gale at the top of Solomon's Temple today. Surprised it wasn't snowing.

Let's be honest have you ever seen a Peleton bike rider and thought; 'yes, I'd really like to be friends with them'?

Just discovered that a Peleton bike costs £2,000 and then you have to pay £40 a month membership after that, and I've gotta say that weaponising the sunk cost fallacy, forcing people to keep paying you £40 a month so they didn't waste the first £2k, is an *amazing* business model

Dogs are always popular. Can't beat a dog when out on the campaign trail! And if somebody doesn't like dogs you've got to ask yourself are they really the sort of person who's vote you want? 😂

Wow, and doctors wonder why some patients see them as arrogant and patronising... Talk about ivory towers.

Very busy morning at work, absolutely knackered. Why do Saturdays always attract a disproportionate amount of emergencies? Anyway, to Costa for a bite to eat pronto.
