Just a normal Amiga 500? With no acceleration card? That's pure sorcery!

Impressive. Most impressive. Looks better than gloom, alien Breed 3D etc How are you getting an to run at this frame rate?

That was exactly the topic of my talk at . I linked to the SceneSat archive with this talk in an earlier tweet. TL;DW: A lot of small tricks, which added up in the end.

How does it run on a standard Amiga 1200? This really interests me because Doom was one of the things that contributed to the demise of the miggy. Whatever small tricks you're doing it's working. Amazing. Really amazing. ๐Ÿ‘

That's a software emulator on a modern PC, not real iron.

Works on the "real iron" as well. Otherwise there would little point in making all this. I just still have to get around to properly prepare a demonstration video of it.

Many of us have never even seen a real iron, but if it works on the emu, it should work on the real thing.

This kind of thinking caused Wildcat crash on "real iron", which I found no sooner than at the party. There is serious DMA bug in the chipset, that is not reproduced by emulators.

Categorically, it is prudent to test it on the real thing before the party I guess.

Now I know. I just did not have A500 back then and believed that MIST is exact reimplementation.

Thanks! Very very impressed! Amazing amount of work and calculations needed to pull that engine off on an A500! I hope with all that work you will be making a full game from it?

That is the plan! Still, with all the engine features I still miss, it will still be a loooong way to go. I'm seriously considering starting Patreon or such to keep the motivation going...

But donโ€™t go too big too soon otherwise it will drain and you will get bored, maybe release a v1 get it finished, then add more features for a sequel if it does well, no better inspiration than sales!

That's exactly why I even left all floors flat and did all the things required for a playable demo first. But any kind of boxed product is still loong way ahead, so I'm thinking about enabling modding next, so everybody could play, create and contribute and have fun with it.

Yeah you donโ€™t need textured floors and ceilings esp on underpowered machines, these can be added later for more powerful machines. Sounds good about modding, this will certainly help in creation of levels/monsters once the basic game engine is all there.
